Unbusy Camp

Are you ready to be rebelliously, audaciously, gloriously unbusy?

By boldly creating open space around the concrete commitments of your life, you allow yourself to embrace the freedom to rest, to connect with others, to play, and to welcome a calmer, gentler pace of life that makes room for both productivity and peace.

If you crave a life less rushed, this is for you.

Unbusy Camp will help you put some breathing room back into your life.

“Unbusy Camp was a beautiful experience. It helped me to slow down and not feel guilty about taking time for me. I feel more at ease. I have loved this experience.

Do it! Even if it feels like one more thing on your plate, it's one thing that helps clear room on that plate instead of just adding more to it.

It helped me move from always running and feeling overwhelmed to having a calmer and more peaceful relationship with time.

I created habits that help me slow down, step back, and focus on what is truly important. I shared it with my team, and I have been sharing it with everybody everywhere.”

Your host

Unbusy Camp is led by me, Kat Vellos, author of the book We Should Get Together: The Secret to Cultivating Better Friendships.

In my research for the book, I found that BUSYNESS was one of the four biggest barriers to people feeling like they could create the friendships they wished for.

An overabundance of commitments, distractions, and pressure get in the way of living the lives we truly want to be living!

That’s why I created Unbusy Camp. It’s a way to shift your relationship with time, so you can get more of the connection and experiences that your heart is wishing for.

Get Unbusy

The on-demand Unbusy Camp is $75 and it works for anyone, anywhere, in any time zone. No zoom calls necessary.

😌

Unbusy Camp’s on-demand option works for you, no matter what time zone you’re in.

It’s especially loved by folks with zoom fatigue who can’t imagine putting another meeting on their calendar.

What to expect

✏️ Upon enrollment, you'll receive an overview directly from me welcoming you to the camp experience, and giving guidance about how to design your Unbusy Experiment.

😌 After your welcome overview, I’ll send you one piece of inspiration and one reflection exercise every 48 hours for the duration of camp (two weeks). This is where the magic happens.

🧠 Your reflection exercises are based on wisdom from some of the world’s best teachers on the themes of: slowing down, intentional living, unbusyness as a life practice, reclaiming your time and attention, and experiencing more peace and joy. These will be short and easy to digest of course, because the goal is to keep you from feeling busy.

🩷 As you integrate your Unbusy Experiment into your life, supported by the inspiration and encouragement I'll be providing you with, you'll start loving your calendar and your days a whole lot more.

✨ You have the choice to complete your Unbusy Experiment over the two weeks of camp, or take longer if you want to stretch it out.

Here’s what a few Unbusy alumni had to say

“A busy life looks good on paper, but it’s often a pain in the ass in reality, and it is certainly not a vaccine against loneliness. Our collective agreement to accept lives defined by Generalized Busyness Disorder*, as if it’s the only way or the best way to live, is a mistake that costs us in more ways than one.

Research shows that the stress triggered by being overly busy can lead to fatigue, headaches, sleep problems, hyperemotionality, anxiety, and more.

Busyness can also be fatal to one of the things that’s a salve for it: friendship. The good news is, we can change the rate of busyness in our lives if we want to. And when we can’t change it, we can at least change the way we approach it, think about it, and deal with it.”

*Not an official term; I made it up and would define it as a condition in which overstuffed calendars drive us to live in a constant state of rush, stress, FOMO, and the anxious worry that there’s never enough time.

You’re a great fit for this if…

  • #1

You want to feel less time-pressure in your life

  • #2

You want more spaciousness and ease in your days

  • #3

You’re ready to commit to yourself and the life you want to be living

FAQs

  • Unbusy Camp has two parts:

    1) Unbusy Camp modules: This is the audio content that I’ll send you every 48 hours. These are short and sweet, designed to give you inspiration and reflection in under 10 minutes. These modules will help you rethink your relationship with time and they’ll help you create your unbusy life. Former campers described these audio sessions as “soothing meditations.”

    2) Your Unbusy Experiment. I’ll explain how to design this in your orientation message. You can weave this into your daily practice according to what best suits your life and how gentle or how radical you want this experience to feel.

  • That’s entirely up to you. During orientation, I’ll explain the ways you can make this experience work for you based on your life and the unbusy wishes that are singing in your heart.

    For example:

A minimum commitment might look like just going over the reflection exercise when it hits your inbox then thinking about it as you go about your day. Maybe you’ll make spontaneous-yet-conscious decisions about how you use your time. You might be gently practicing an increased awareness of how you experience time and urgency.

A radical commitment might look like supplementing the material I send you with firm practices that structurally change your access to free time, e.g. by clearing unnecessary meetings from your calendar, protectively guarding free-time blocks in your day, and not using any social media or video streaming services during camp.

YOU get to choose how gentle or radical of an experiment you want to try on for size. You always have the option to adjust your experiment during camp — either during a single hour, a single day, or an entire week.

  • To receive your camp content, you’ll need email and internet access. Pretty straightforward.

The on-demand Unbusy Camp is 100% zoom-free. You’ll get all the content, without any video calls.

  • Adults 18+ of all genders.

  • The on-demand Unbusy Camp costs $75.

Scholarships: If you can’t swing the entire fee, please email me at kat @ weshouldgettogether.com and let me know that you're interested in the pay-what-you-can option. Let me know what feels doable for you.

24-hour Cancellation Policy: You have until 24 hours after your camp starts to cancel your enrollment and get a full refund.

  • Absolutely! Thanks for your generosity and for helping other folks get unbusy. You have two options:

Option #1: You can cover the cost for a specific person you know, as a gift from you. All you have to do is register with their name and email address.

Option #2: You can cover the cost for someone you don’t know by making a donation that will go into our scholarship bucket to cover the cost for folks who can’t afford it. This is one of the kindest ways to pay it forward to someone else can benefit. 💖
